Sealed With a Kiss Event with Julie Johnstone

As a little girl I loved to create fantasy worlds and then give all my friends roles to play. Of course, I was always the heroine! Books have always been an escape for me and brought me so much pleasure, but it didn't occur to me that I could possibly be a writer for a living until I was in a career that was not my passion. One day, I decided I wanted to craft stories like the ones I loved, and with a great leap of faith I quit my day job and decided to try to make my dream come true. I discovered my passion, and I have never looked back. I feel incredibly blessed and fortunate that I have been able to make a career out of sharing the stories that are in my head! I write Scottish Medieval Romance, Regency Romance, and I have even written a Paranormal Romance book. And because I have the best readers in the world, I have hit the USA Today bestseller list several times.

ARC Review: Combust by K. Bromberg

I am a huge fan of K. Bromberg's and Combust once again proved why she is an auto-buy author for me. I just loved this story and once I started, I couldn't stop reading. The characters were great and so was the story, and I think fans of hers as well as new readers are going to love this one!

Combust is the second book in the Everyday Heroes series of standalones and this story features Grady Malone and Dylan McCoy. When Dylan finds her star boyfriend in bed with someone else, she wants nothing more than to get away from him. But her agent needs her to keep their breakup on the down-low and finish the album that they are under contract to make together before anyone finds out. Needing to get out of town, she heads to Sunnyville where her brother hooks her up with a roommate in the form of a sexy firefighter that she can't help but want. Each of them have their own reasons for wanting to keep things casual, but neither of them can stop what is happening between them, especially when a visitor shows up and changes everything.

I loved Grady and Dylan. Each one had their own scars and vulnerabilities due to things that they had faced, and they both needed each other. I felt for both of them, and I was glad that they found each other. Their connection went so far beyond just the attraction and chemistry that was there from the start with them, and I loved how each one was supportive and encouraging of the other. They were so good for one another, and I really felt like they were meant to be together.

Overall, I loved this book and the cast of characters in this world that K. Bromberg has created. I can't wait to read more, and I know Bromberg won't disappoint. She is such a talented writer and is one that I always recommend to readers that enjoy contemporary romance. If you are a fan of hers, you will definitely want to check this one out and if you are new to her this is a great one to start with though you can't go wrong with anything that she has written!

ARC Review: War of Hearts by Julia Sykes

War of Hearts was my first book by Julia Sykes and even though it was said to be a standalone, I would disagree. I found out after reading that there was a prequel called Battle For Love which I hadn't read and it might have helped me from feeling as though I was thrown into a story already in progress. That was a big problem for me here and unfortunately the story just didn't recover for me.

I felt like the blurb was misleading here and the story definitely didn't go as I expected it to. It was supposed to be a mafia story with darkness and danger, yet it didn't feel like one at all to me. Having read and enjoyed plenty mafia romances over the years, this one just didn't hold up. It is a menage and while the sex between the characters was hot, I feel like that was all there was here. It was primarily sex scenes with very little story or character development in between.

If you are just looking for something erotic and full of sex, you might enjoy this one. I wanted more story though and I there were a few other things that didn't quite work for me. Besides feeling as though I had missed part of the story here, when it came to Joseph and Marco things didn't feel quite right to me. It felt off and as though things were forced and not genuine when it came to them and their relationship with Ashlyn together.

While this story had a lot of promise, for me it just didn't work. I had hoped for more with the blurb and sexy cover, but in the end it wasn't what I had been expecting. I am not sure that I would read more from Julia Sykes after this, even though at this point I am a bit curious to see if reading the prequel would have helped at all here. If you are just looking for a sexy menage filled with sex, you might give this one a go after reading the prequel.

ARC Review: Signed by Marni Mann

I have enjoyed everything I have read from Marni Mann, and Signed was no exception. I was addicted once I started reading it and didn't want to put it down. This one was sexy and captivating and I think readers will like it as much as I did.

James is used to everything that fame brings, but after a bad breakup she is trying to focus on her career. So when she has a one night stand with the sexy and older Brett, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. When she finds herself in need of help with a scandal, Brett just might be the only one that can save her.

I'll be honest and say that the only reason this one wasn't a five star read for me was the characters got on my nerves a few times here. That being said though, I still loved them for one another despite all their flaws. That is what made them easier to relate to for me, even when they were frustrating. James was young and at times her immaturity definitely showed. Brett was quick to react at times and I felt like they both needed to learn how to communicate better though. I still really liked them and the chemistry between them was undeniable. They were super hot together but there was so much more than just the attraction and physical for these two. I really couldn't get enough of them and even with the drama and angst, I didn't want to stop reading.

Overall, another great read from Marni Mann. I enjoyed the story and really felt like these two were meant for one another. I haven't been disappointed by Marni Mann with anything I have read from her, and I can't wait to see what she writes next! I would love to see more in this world as I am not ready to leave it behind!
